Aled Williams

​

I received my PhD in mathematics from Cardiff University at the start of 2022. My research focused on integer optimisation using tools from the geometry of numbers. In July 2022, I became an LSE Fellow in the Department of Mathematics at the London School of Economics and Political Science. My role currently involves developing and teaching a new undergraduate course and conducting academic research. I am very grateful to have received several awards for my teaching within the department to date.

Recent Activities:

  • In December 2023, joint work with Daiki Haijima (a previous MSc student) entitled "Consider a Classical Upper Bound on the Frobenius Number" was uploaded to arXiv (2312.15227)

  • I visited Durham University in November 2023 for a short research visit focusing on Multi-Criteria Decision Making Problems 

  • I attended an awards ceremony in November 2023 where I was awarded an "LSE Excellence in Education Award" based on recommendations from colleagues within the LSE

  • In September 2023, joint work with Mahak Bhatia entitled "Identifying Job Satisfaction Parameters among the Employees in Higher Educational Institutions: A Mathematical Model" was uploaded to arXiv (2309.07553)

  • Joint work with Mahak Bhatia entitled "Using Multi-Criteria Decision-Making Techniques to Select Criteria in Renewable Energy" was published in the American Journal of Operations Management and Information Systems in July 2023

  • In June 2023, I gave a short presentation entitled "Innovations in Student Workbooks and Assessment" at the LSE ECR Network's first Peer Learning Café on "Sharing Best Practices in Teaching"

  • I co-organised with Dr Paroma Bhattacharya (LSE) the LSE Early Career Researcher (ECR) Network's first Peer Learning Café on "Sharing Best Practices in Teaching" in June 2023

  • In March 2023, joint work with Mahak Bhatia entitled "Selection of Criteria Using MCDM Techniques - An Application in Renewable Energy" was uploaded to arXiv (2303.17520)

  • In January 2023, I gave a talk at the Seminar on Combinatorics, Games and Optimisation at the London School of Economics

  • I joined the editorial board of the "American Journal of Operations Management and Information Systems" in January 2023

  • In December 2022, I presented at the 6th European Conference on Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (ELECS 2022)

  • My paper entitled "Target Setting: a Case Study Looking at How Greater Collaboration Can Impact the Effectiveness of Target Setting" was published via WSEAS Transactions on Business and Economics in November 2022

  • In October 2022, I gave a brief talk at the PhD Seminar on Combinatorics, Games and Optimisation at the London School of Economics

  • I visited the University of Cambridge for an IMA event for new lecturers in the mathematical sciences in September 2022

  • In September 2022, joint work with Ruslan Skuratovskii entitled "Difference Equations, Stationary and Nonstationary Discrete systems in Block Ciphers" was presented at the World Conference on Information Systems for Business Management (ISBM Bangkok 2022)

  • I attended a conference/course focusing on Multi Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) at the University of Portsmouth in September 2022

  • In August 2022, I presented at the 7th International Conference on Mathematics and Computers in Sciences and Industry (MCSI 22)

  • My paper entitled "Finding an Optimal Proximity Bound in a Very Special Scenario" was published via WSEAS Transactions on Mathematics in August 2022

  • In July 2022, I won an Outstanding Teaching Assistant award for my work at King's College London during the previous academic year

  • I became an LSE Fellow in Mathematics at the London School of Economics in July 2022
